A recent operation by different agencies across our state ended with hundreds of tickets being issued and dozens of people arrested.

Metro man accused of rape, assault with pliers

OKLAHOMA CITY — A metro man is behind bars after being accused of an unusual and brutal attack.

The assault happened early Saturday morning at a house in the 2000 block of N.E. 28th St.

The victim said the man she’d been dating for about six weeks came into her home while she was asleep, said he had something for her, then went and grabbed pliers from a drawer in her kitchen.

“He sexually assaulted her. He actually bound her and he sexually assaulted her. He took pliers and he shoved the pliers into her mouth, grabbing ahold of her tongue and the force of the pliers actually broke several of her teeth,” OKC Police MSgt. Gary Knight said.

The victim said she pleaded with her attacker to let her live because she has two small children.

She said the assault finally stopped when her attacker, 21-year-old Patrick Garnette, passed out.

She was able to escape and get help.

Police: Man killed teen girlfriend

WARR ACRES, Okla. — Warr Acres Police arrested Charles Sykes, 19, Monday on a murder complaint after the body of his 15-year-old girlfriend was discovered inside his apartment.

Investigators believe Sykes killed his girlfriend Raeviana Satterfield and left her body in a bathroom at the Westgate Crossing Apartments.

Investigators say Sykes’ mom discovered Satterfield’s body.

Neighbors say they heard people fighting inside the apartment around 2 a.m. Monday.

Police say there were visible signs of trauma to the victim’s body.

Police are waiting on an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police investigating death of suspect in custody

OKLAHOMA CITY — Police are investigating the death of a man who died while in their custody.

Robin Leander Howard, 54, was arrested June 19 after a chase with police.

Police said they were making a traffic stop when Howard took off and led them on a short chase.

The chase ended when the suspect vehicle crashed in the 1400 block of Monticello Court.

According to police, Howard resisted arrest and officers used force when placing Howard in custody.

After the arrest, Howard was taken to the hospital.

Howard died four days later, June 23, in the hospital.

He was in police custody at the time of his death.

According to Oklahoma City Police Captain Dexter Nelson, the department has conducted an internal investigation regarding the use of force in Howard’s arrest.

Police investigate homicide on NW 89th

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City police are investigating a homicide that happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of NW 89th.

They were called to the home by the suspect himself who called 911 and told the dispatcher that his son attacked him with some sort of machete or hatchet and that he had shot him.

The son was dead when police arrived on scene.  His father was taken into custody for questioning.

“He’s in custody right now and obviously we’re going to question him and then it’ll depend on the interviews he does with homicide as to what they’re going to do with him,” said Lt. Jeff Cooper with the Oklahoma City police department.

Neighbors reacted to the scene with shock.

One neighbor even said the son used to help her out.

Edmond man arrested for possible hate crime

EDMOND, Okla. — A man involved in an altercation with a group of teenagers is now back behind bars for violating the terms of his probation from a previous arrest, according to Edmond Police.  

James Roper, 31, was arrested following a fight involving four black teenagers earlier this week.  

Roper was once again taken into custody Friday afternoon.  

The altercation occurred near Sand Springs Trail and Fountain View Wednesday.  

According to investigators, Roper chased after the teenagers with his car and then beat up a 15-year-old boy.  

The probable cause affidavit stated Roper called them names including “gangbangers, n******, crips and thugs.”  

Police said Roper lifted his shirt and pointed to a swastika tattoo above his stomach at one point during the altercation.

Edmond Police have turned over the findings of the investigation to the district attorney’s office.  

Shooting on South Hudson

OKLAHOMA CITY — One man is in critical condition after a shooting early Friday morning.

It happened about 1:15 a.m. in the 3500 block of South Hudson.

Police found a shooting victim outside a house.

The victim claims he doesn’t know why shot him.

Police are questioning the homeowner of the house where the victim was found.

If they can obtain a search warrant, police may search inside the home for a weapon.

Police say they are not aware of any relationship between the victim and the homeowner.
