OKLAHOMA CITY—Fans of a popular Mexican-American singer are planning a candlelight vigil after her plane crashed in northern Mexico.
Fans will honor the life of 43-year-old Jenni Rivera, who is believed to have died when her plane crashed Sunday in Nuevo Leon.
The plane was carrying Rivera and six others when it went down unexpectedly.
Investigators say it will take days to piece together exactly what happened before the plane crashed.
Rivera is known for her songs about heartbreak and overcoming pain.
She sold more than 15 million albums and won two Billboard Mexican Music Awards.
Mourners will gather at the El Nacional Newspaper in Oklahoma City, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11.
Several local Hispanic singers and leaders will join in a tribute to Rivera by singing a few of her songs and talking about her work in California.
