Parents to participate in candidate forum

Parents and residents in Edmond will be able to learn more about two candidates who are running for a seat on the Edmond Board of Education.

Edmond's West Field Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will be hosting a school board candidate forum on Thursday, February 2, 2012.

From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., residents will be able to ask questions of Kathleen Duncan and Steve Roy.

Roy earned a bachelor's degree in sociology form the University of Central Oklahoma. He and his wife have two children, including a senior at Santa Fe High School.

Duncan was a teacher and middle and high school counselor in Tulsa and Tecumseh before earning her law degree from OU. She also served as an assistant district attorney in Oklahoma County before retiring.

Board of Education Seat No. 2 includes neighborhoods in the western section of the district including Danforth Farms, Fenwick and Mulholland.

The candidate forum will be held in the school's cafeteria.

The election will be held February 14, 2012 and only residents of District 2 will be eligible to vote.
