City ends odd/even water rotation | News

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City will end the mandatory odd/even watering rotation program Tuesday.

City officials are thanking  the residents and businesses for their help in maintaining adequate water pressure throughout the city during many days of record high temperatures.

However, Oklahoma remains in a serious drought. 

Residents and businesses are encouraged to continue watering practices learned during mandatory conservation, such as outdoor watering no more than every other day if at all possible and setting timed sprinklers for late night or early morning operation.

The city is asking residents to continue:

• Concentrating watering efforts on trees, shrubs and cool-weather grasses that will die if not watered
• Making sure sprinklers water the grass and not the concrete
• Avoiding watering when it’s windy
• Watering in the early morning or late evening hours to prevent water lost to evaporation
